While this cake stand was not super expensive, I thought the fact it was Wilton brand would at least mean it was decent quality. We had made a wedding cake and within a few hours, the 12" plate started to crack on the edge. We began to panic as you can't just transfer a decorated wedding cake easily to another plate. We did our best to try to support the cake to avoid it cracking further. At the reception the following day, we set the cake up by turning the stand and placing the cracked plate on the table and not on the pillar. The bride had also requested cupcakes so we filled in the empty cake place in the back with cupcakes so it didn't look weird. By the end of the night when we cleaned up, the plate had cracked almost entirely through! We used a 10" cake instead of a 12" cake and it was not exceptionally heavy. The plates were so cheap and flimsy. This may make a cute stand for cupcakes but I would NOT recommend putting a cake on it (even though that's what the box shows).

This item is gorgeous, and if you have room for it, it's wonderful. That said, the listed dimensions are so, so much smaller than the actual item, and it's far, far too big for the space I have available for it. I bought it to display collectibles on a bookshelf, and none of my shelves have the depth to support it. Wish I had done more research than just accepting the Amazon dimensions listed. The item is 23" wide and 20" deep at the widest point in case anyone else is wondering.

The rack arrived and was defective. Customer Service, after promising to replace it, has failed to do so.As you can see from the product image, the rings and support posts rest on large ball bearing type feet. Unfortunately, one of the feet was missing; it was not welded onto the rack when the rack was constructed.In addition, the main ring, which integrates the 3 shelf rings, was not "true." Even had the missing ball bearing foot been in place, the rack would not have sat flush on the tabletop.I contacted Wilton Customer Service. They in turn promised to replace my defective stand within a week. Nearly 3 weeks have now gone by, and I have not heard from them. I have sent them a follow up email, but have not yet heard from them.It's a pretty rack; I wish it had been usable.

They look nice and for home use would be perfect. I actually use them commercially 2-4 times per week all year long, they last about a year in that setting (constantly assembled/disassembled. One of the leg holders broke off after a year, I tried to saulder(sp?) it back on but it wouldn't reattach.So, even for commercial use, I just reordered another one knowing that things naturally have lifespans. To be fair, I bought 2 initially, one is still going strong, and only one of them broke as noted above. All that being said, I bought a replacement because they are handy for what we do and still a great value. But, that's why it's a 4 star review instead of 5.

I bought this for a birthday party to display multiple cakes and it worked perfectly! Assembly is easy. Note that the circular trays are each a different size, so you can put various sizes of cakes on them if you'd like. I can think of many more uses for this-appetizers, small desserts, etc.
