I had been really looking forward to using this, as I use a tremendous amount of garlic each week in my cooking. I was really pleased when I saw the item because it is a beautiful piece of equipment to look at. I was under the impression that it works well with unpeeled garlic cloves, but was shocked when I tried to use it. I consider myself to be quite strong, but the energy I had to expend squeezing the garlic was more than I could handle ..... I almost did myself a wrist injury! In the end I peeled the cloves and put them in, and although there was a slight improvement, I still had to squeeze really hard. From the reviews, I got the impression that this was the best thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately not for me.

I really did not want to pay such a high price for a garlic press, but then I figured that if it lasts, then I could regard it as value for money. I saw the "You Tube" demonstration whereby a range of presses were tested, and the American lady said that this one was the one they liked the best because of its performance and clean-ability. She said that it chops garlic into the right sized pieces and yields a lot of garlic, and can be used even with the skins on.My findings are that it is fantastic for chopping garlic and is, indeed, easy to clean. I was a bit worried about giving my fingers a pinch after reading another review, so I am careful while using it. It is robust and is the best garlic press I have ever had. It does not work well for ginger, however.

I have tried numerous garlic presses before and have always found them disappointing. They either waste garlic, are tricky to clean or require huge muscles to operate. This Kuhn garlic press is none of these things.It is easy to press the garlic through, supremely easy to clean and has a really cleverly designed "plate" for the garlic that swings completely apart from the main body of the press for cleaning.It also easily allows you to press garlic cloves of varying sizes from very small to really large, without having to remove the skin. I highly recommend this to anyone - despite the hefty price tag. You'll spend more on cheaper useless presses that don't work even half as well!
